The centre covers eleven villages. Before the installation, power cuts forced midwives to work by torchlight and night emergencies were sent to a hospital two hours away.
The application came from the head nurse, with detailed quotes and the backing of the village health committee. It is an example of what makes a strong file: an identified need, verifiable costings, and an organisation able to keep the equipment running once installed.
Night deliveries are now handled on site. The centre has also recorded a sharp rise in antenatal consultations, which the team puts down to renewed trust in the facility.
